Our Included Insulation is the industry standard, build for all purpose UK weather and will keep your hot tub warm and running smoothly through all the seasons. Some hot tub owners however might value investing in more insulation for the long term savings on running costs and improved heating efficiency.

Proper insulation cannot only save on electricity but extended the lifespan of the hot tub components. Reducing the strain on your heater and keeping as much heat as possible in your hot tub water, coupled with a properly fitting insulated lid, chemical treatment and regular maintenance and care, a hot tub lifespan can be extended and enjoyed.

An industry standard in all our hot tub models, built for all purpose UK weather, a baseline design from our company is our Included Standard Insulation.

Polyurethane Shell Foam

Using a polyurethane foam on the acrylic shell of the hot tub, this dense foam coating is durable and water resistant. Shaped to your specific acrylic shell, the foam is applied and formed to allow access to the inner components and working elements of the hot tub structure that attach to the shell; the jets, LED lights, filter housing and circulation pipes. This means that any future maintenance work will be unintrusive to the structure of your hot tub and insulation and makes sure of minimal heat loss through the acrylic shell into the base.

Solid Side Panels

The side panels and hot tub base also act as a layer of protection. Not only do they defend against outside elements such as curious pets and weather, keeping your pumps, pipes, and heater safe, but they also keep any heat that does escape through the shell in the inner cavity to contribute to general heat retention of your hot tub.

Enhanced

Our Enhanced insulation is the next level of protection and efficiency for your hot tub. With both a closed-cell spray polyurethane foam on the acrylic shell, and a layer of 0.5mm polyethylene foam lining with foil cover on the side panels, corners and base, your hot tub is much more equipped to maintain your desired temperature with less work and energy use. Please note that depending on your hot tub make you may not have insulation in the corner panels. For specific details please call our sales team to enquire.

The Triplex Insulation is our top tier option for protection and efficiency of temperature retention in your hot tub. With a closed-cell spray polyurethane foam on the acrylic shell, and a layer of 0.5mm polyethylene foam lining with foil cover on the side panels, corners and base, and an additional 2.5mm polyethylene foam with foil cover filling the cavities of the side panels and corners, your hot tub is fully equipped to maintain your desired temperature with less work and energy use. What Insulation does my hot tub come with?

Each hot tub has it’s own level of insulation, which you can find on the hot tub product page, in the specification. You will need to know the name of your hot tub, and search for this information on the product page. Equally our teams will be able to inform you of what your hot tub is fitted with from factory. If you are in the ordering process you can ask about your hot tub and our upgrade options, or if your hot tub has already been delivered and installed, you can open up a side panel and inspect your hot tub for insulation coverage.

Is hot tub Insulation necessary?

Yes, hot tub insulation is important for a variety of reasons, including:

Energy efficiency: Insulation helps keep your hot tub running efficiently and reduces energy consumption.

Water temperature: Insulation helps maintain the water temperature, so your hot tub doesn’t need to work as hard to heat the water.

Hot tub longevity: Insulation can help prolong the life of your hot tub’s components.

Protection from the elements: Insulation can protect your hot tub from the elements.

All our hot tub models come with at least our standard included insulation or above, and upgrades are available.

What is the best Insulation?

What type of Insulation is best for you will depend on a few factors.

Location: If your hot tub is installed indoors there will not be as much difference between your water temperature and your heated space than if it is located outdoors. You may not require as much insulation if your space is heated and the water heat isn’t lost so much into the air.

Use: How often you use your hot tub will dictate how often it is open and active, loosing heat into the air and requiring heating up again. If you are frequent hot tub users, more insulation will benefit keeping your hot tub water warmer for longer.

Weather: Being in the UK climate, there is not as much need for full foam insulation that is more common in Canadian hot tubs, as we do not reach as low winter temperatures as their snowy climates. If you are emptying and shutting down your hot tub over winter there is less need for extra insulation, and your hot tub will function as intended in the summer.

Can I remove Insulation in the Summer?

We fasten the insulation to the panels, corners where possible, and base of the hot tub in such a way that will allow removal if needed, but there is no need to remove and reapply between the seasons. All our Insulation types are non-obstructive of the hot tub parts if any maintenance is needed, and all types of insulation will continue to work through the summer, keeping heat in your hot tub water for longer.

Why do you not completely fill the hot tub base with insulating foam?

Full foam hot tubs, while very effective in insulation, completely cut off the hot tub elements from easy access. If an airlock is required to bleed a pump, or you need replacement parts, or suffer a leak, it can be very difficult to locate and fix any problems when having to cut out all the foam filling. Also having foam insulation filled right up to your hot tub pumps, heater and other components can be a heat risk and decrease your parts lifespan due to confinement and vibrations.

Can I upgrade my hot tub Insulation?

Yes. We have upgrade offers for both the Enhanced and Triplex Insulation to add to all our hot tubs existing Standard insulation features. Upgrades can be added to a hot tub order and installed inhouse before your hot tub is delivered or be ordered as a service to an existing hot tub site and carried out by our engineer teams at the customer’s house.

Are there any other ways to help with my hot tub Insulation?

The most important feature to hot tub insulation is a hot tub cover. When not in use, the cover seals in the heat from your water, preventing heat loss through vapor into the air. Keeping it in good shape, not waterlogged and cared for will increase its lifespan and effectiveness. You can also purchase a Spa Protector, which is an insulated cover designed to surround the entire hot tub in a layer of insulation foam and reflective surface to protect your hot tub and cover from the elements.
